What It Actually Looks Like to Prioritize Yourself When You’re Used to Holding Everything Together

Prioritizing yourself can feeling challenging

If you’re someone who’s used to holding everything together, prioritizing yourself doesn’t always come naturally.

You might be the one people rely on. The one who figures things out, keeps things moving, shows up no matter what. And over time, it can start to feel like your needs come last… or don’t quite fit anywhere at all.

So when you try to choose yourself, even in small ways, it can feel unfamiliar. Sometimes even uncomfortable.

How to start choosing you

One gentle place to start is this question:

What would the version of me I’m becoming choose right now?

Not the version of you that’s used to pushing through. Not the one carrying everything. But the version of you that feels more supported, more grounded, more at ease.

The answer doesn’t have to be big. It might be a pause. A boundary. A moment of honesty with yourself.

And it’s okay if this is hard to hold on your own. You’re not meant to figure all of this out in isolation.
